Nautilus Section?
Message #44442
John, We tried that once and we've since let it slide. We ought to push the issue again. Thanks for the reminder. – Lupes
Greg, Oh yeah, I forgot that there are bunches of .AVI files in the PC Karaoke demo. (Of course, how many and which ones you see depends on the date and time of day ) – Lupes
Fred, I didn't realize how little AVI we had on the March disc until I looked back at it. We'll definately have some on the next disc. One from Microsoft and maybe even one from The Nerd (answer your second question?) – Lupes
Bill, Thanks for the catch! I'll get it fixed. – Lupes
Richard, The libraries had pending transactions which should take place around 2:00am Eastern time (off peak) on 3/2. Try your upload after then. – Lupes
#File size diffs
Message #41498
Bill, I would guess that it's due to the block size that CompuServe uses being different that that on your hard drive. Nothing to worry about. – Lupes
Chris, Thanks for your comments regarding our international pricing. We are constantly evaluating our pricing options and I'll make sure that we consider your comments and suggestions. Again, thanks for the ideas and the kudos. – Lupes
Lynne, You've caught us. The correction of the Macmillan demo seems not to be correct . I'm working with Macmillan and we're all hoping that the third time _REALLY_IS_ the charm. – Lupes
Lynne, Thanks for the birthday wishes but my birthday (as you'll note on the page) is July 23. – Lupes
Dave, You can reach Nautilus Customer Service at 614/766-3165 or on CompuServe at 75140,2712. – Lupes
Lynne, Thanks for your comments. We'll try to continue to bring you goodies like Nutcracker. WRT VFW, there was a bad version of a SETUP.INF file that we accidentally put on the December disc. We knew about it for November and caught it but… – Lupes
Paul, Good question. We haven't tested under the scenario you describe. I'll have to try that out and see what happens. What occurs when you "can't run the Nautilus application from the remote machine?" – Lupes
Jan, Have we/can we talk about publishing your reviews on Nautilus? – Lupes
Kevin, I promise not to kick you out as long as the subject of the thread/message doesn't lead people to believe that you/we are talking about business related things. But, feel free to talk about Nautilus all you like! – Lueps

Lynne, The Nutcracker ToolBook book was an effort of many people including both Margo and myself. We're thrilled that you like it and hope to be able to bring you more pieces like it in the future. – Lupes

Message #36704
Andreas, I have forwarded your request to Nautilus Customer Service. – Lupes
Jack, Check out the info in the Nautilus library (I have already promised to update it very soon) or call Customer Service 614/761-3150. – Lupes

Paul, Since I am the Editor of the Windows Edition of Nautilus, I'd love it if you'd "hang out here"! – Lupes

Message #34740
Guido, Will do!. – Lupes
VANNY, You can reach customer service at 75140,2712. We are going to be pursuing a worldwide network early next year. – Lupes

#Pulse Dial for LINK?
Message #31469
HLF, You can send the note here and I'll pass it on. I'll mention the pulse/tone situation to our developers. – Lupes
Rick, Recently, a copy of MSCDEX was available in the Libraries here. It was pointed out that it is copyrighted and there are a number of vendors who sell it. Therefore, it should not be available in this forum. I believe th at Microsoft owns the copyright to it so…
Paresh, Messages stay on this forum for a week to ten days. They aren't deleted by me, there are only so many message slots so the oldest message "scrolls" when a new one is posted. You prbably see zeros when you do a MESSAGE;SELECT because your AGE setting is set…
Robert, My guess is that if you contact your SCSI card manufacturer (Future Domain?) that they'll be able to provide you with the drivers that you need in your CONFIG.SYS to driver your CD ROM. You'll also want to get MSCDEX.EXE which may also be available from them. – Lupes
Kevin, I'll have to request more space from CompuServe. I just noticed it today too. Thanks! – Lupes
Peter, I have downloaded both files in the past but, I'll download them again to confirm. – Lupes
Thanks for pointing that out. Those files were here before me. Let me see if I can get and post the info on ISO 9660. – Lupes
Thanks for the info! – Lupes
Andy, You'll find a list in the libraries here of a number of CD ROMs carried by PSL. BEP, also in this forum, has a great catalog. NAUTILUS has a small (but growing) CD ROM Directory every issue. Other than that, your best bet would be to check out the…
I haven't done too much with MMMs. I know that Macromind Director (on the Mac) comes with a utility to convert Director animations to MMMs. They also make a Windows player for such MMMs. If you make or know of anybody who has made any, we'd love to put them…
Bill, The Intro is fairly representative of a typical issue. Some have more sounds and photos, some have less. I haven't yet run into a .WAV to .IFF or AIFF converter but would _LOVE_ to find one. I may look around in the Amiga or Mac forums. – Lupes
RZ, Thanks for your comments. I'm certainly not trying to censor any messages nor have I asked CompuServe if they agree. Ignoring all of the banter about first amendment, censorship etc., what would your opinion be on the matter if your were a/the software developer? How about if you were…

#WAV Files
Message #19243
Jerry, Thanks for the good words! I believe that the problem that you mention re: .WAV files is due to the fact that they are/were stereo. After that disc (Vol2_1?) we started ensuring that the files in the Sound Bytes & MIDI section are provided in both mono and stereo.…

Bernie, Sheesh. No word yet here. You should be getting Vol2_3 this week. Run NSETUP from that and see what happens. This is really a strange one! – Lupes

CDROM Selection Help
Message #19241
Spencer, I think that you'll probably be able to get some recommendations from our forum members re: what drives to buy. As far as getting lists of availability and specs, I _really_ like (though it's surcharged) Ziff's Computer Database Plus (here on CIS.) There are actually two databases; one with…

#STREET ATLAS 'Tricks'
Message #18965
Adam (& Scott …), Please do not post messages about "hacking" Street Map. The manufacturer has asked that we not allow these messages in this forum since Xmap is a different product with a much higher price tag. My understanding is that DeLorme will me re-manufacturing the hackable discs since…
Rod, I had Customer Service check your record. They found it. Apparently, your Intro request had been entered as a quasi-subscription. So, everytime that a shipment of Intros goes out (every week) you get one (until your "subscription" expires, at twelve, of course.) They promised that they corrected it! Thanks…
Bernie, Ok, I've got a thought. First, I'm going to make an assumption (and you'll have to correct me if I'm wrong) that you had an Intro disc before getting Vol2_2. If this is the case, my guess would be that you installed Vol2_2 to a different path or that…
Bernie, Let me do some testing on my machine at work (it has an Ultra) on Monday and I'll get back to you. – Lupes
David, Sure, the disc is free but there is a $3.50 charge for SH/H. Just call Customer Service at 800/637-DISC. – Lupes
Bernie, At what point do you get the UAE? What video card are you using? How much memory does it (the video card) have? Had you used the Intro previously and, if so, did you let NAUTILUS perform the Startup book upgrade when you ran NSETUP.EXE? – Lupes
Sheesh. Do you have any friends with drives? I'll check with Customer Service today. Thanks for letting us know! – Lupes
I believe that I have cleaned it up. Let me know if you need further changes. – Lupes
Raman, I'm somewhat less familiar with the Mac product than the Windows product but I think that we receive the system files from Apple as disk images. I'll certainly pass your comments on to our editor (who knows, they may show up in the letters section) and I'll see what…
Bill, Yup! I think that last time we ran into each other was at Trumps or Rocky's or some such. From the Shack to CompuServe to NAUTILUS. Send me your address via CompuServe Mail and I'll see what I can send you re:info about NAUTILUS. – Lupes

Order PLEASE!
Message #18342
Peter, I think that you are talking about moving and combining threads. I haven't done much of that to this point but it is possible to do. I'll keep an eye on the topics and try to keep things more organized. Thanks for the suggestion! – Lupes
Suzanne, Not a bad idea. We might be able to allow configurable viewers via WIN.INI if we don't/can't provide them. – Lupes
Derbin, What was the upgrade process for Bookshelf? Who'd you call etc. – Lupes
Earle, I'll try to do that. As you say, the message traffic is increasing so it requires more time but… should be done. I;ll probably also suggest to the recipient that they delete any such messages addressed to them after they've been read. Thanks. – Lupes
Roscoe, I'm not sure that we can do a disc from an Amiga drive. If you'll send me (via CompuServe Mail) your friends name and phone number I'll have somebody who _CAN_ answer that give him a call. – Lupes
