Don't forget that she's a hell of a skiier! (g) This is one of the most important qualities of a good woman in today's world… (See, I do actually read messages in this forum!)

Speaking of which, are there any new PAR drivers available yet??? I have the 1.3 beta but it is still so slowwwwwwww. How come? Dos-based VGA code should be really fast! I am currently using my PAR for output for the Saturday Morning cartoon, "Where in the world is Carmen…

Jim, I have been around for a long time. Originally, I wrote PCPAINT and GRASP. Then, in 1991, I sold the remainder of my interest to John Bridges, the "real" programmer. GRAFX has been doing interactive marketing and advertising for over 10 years now. I have also been a steady…

Jim, I have a Power MAC 8100 and several Pentiums and the only real comparison is Photoshop. What I can say is that it SCREAMS on the Pwer MAC compared to the 75MHZ Pentium (in a notebook!) and 90 MHz Pentium workstations.

I can't say too much, but I can say that GRAFX will soon be another company producing a Saturday morning cartoon all in 3D, but using 3D Studio with Puppeteer. We are also working in 2D using 3D studion for the current cartoon, Where in the World is Carmen San…

Chuck, did you see my request for support of the C&T 6554? I might have missed the reply. It is a very common chip now across notebooks. It is nice to have true-color rendering on a notebook…if only we can get it supported. Thanks! – Doug Wolfgram/GRAFX, Written 26-Oct-1994 @…

Any chance of adding one more chipset to the Vibrant drivers? The C&T 6554 chip? I just got a new Pentium notebook that supports truecolor (16-bit) and has an 810MB hard drive. I want to run 3DS on the road and render in truecolor. The VESA stuff works fine. It…

The real problem we have with it is the the edge artifacts with cartoons. But it usually isn't a problem. I think that the entire industry will change their attitudes soon. I just installed my Direct TV and the edge artifacts there are noticable sometimes, but it doesn't spoil the…

I'll order mine today! I am looking for a program as easy to use as Envisage, but for Windows. As I have said before, I have professional 3D guys who love 3D studio, but I also have some designers and artists who could never learn the interface. They want things…

The PAR retails for about $1895 I think. I can't remember how much I paid for mine. It is a wonderful tool for lo-end video production. The drivers are updated regularly and supported here on CIS. As a side note, we have an unwritten policy at GRAFX NOT to use…

Kevin, One comment on the PAR board. The loss depends on particular settings and does not depend on how long the animation is. You message sounded like a 12 minute animation would be more lossy than a 6 minute animation. This is not true. The loss is a per-frame loss.…
There are several such engines around. We have developed several here at GRAFX. In fact, we have one that allows multiple FLC, AVI, BMP and EXE files to be chained together. Unfortunately, ours are custom and that is the business we are in, so I can't release them. The point…

Did you do it as a vertical slice? So you generate a cut-away of the sole from the side? I used a GRIDS box instead of regular box. I'll try the box routine. My result was the left edge of the boz attached to the sole. Wierd! – Doug Wolfgram/GRAFX,…

Actually, it didn't. Load the Lo-Top off the CD and try to boolean half of the sole away. A very strange thing happens. The inside face of the boolean box (I used the GRIDS IPAS) gets ATTACHED to the sole!! I gave up and did something different. But I would…

#Booleans!!! Message #120013
I am desparately trying to cut the lo-top shoe that comes with 3DS in half, vertically, so that I have a cut-away view. I have composited all the objects together, so that the shoe is one object. I then made a grid, 50x50x10. I then tesselated the shoe twice and…
#119635 #AAPLAY.DLL Message #119849
I guess the confusion comes from Emilio's "resource modified" version. The one I have which works says 1.1 and is 137K. Is this right? – Doug Wolfgram/GRAFX, Written 23-Aug-1994 @ 09:48:58 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.21

More issues re:AAPLAY.EXE. We are creating many different screen savers using AAPLAY.DLL. What is the current version number? I have seen 2.0 on some systems, but the one we got when we purchased it (the one without the startup logo) is 1.1. 1.1 seems to have some palette problems on…

#115514 #PAR purchase? Message #115531
I recently took some 2D animation to a bid done on the PAR (standard cartoon stuff) and it was rejected because of the way that the artifacts really trash line art (like small grids, etc.). We eneded up using direct 24 bit out put to laser. On the other hand,…

Yes, I need them to look like single letters when done. I thought of the boolean approach, etc., but that is too tedious for this little titling job. Thaks for the input. Right now, I am trying to convince the client that the letters look good whole! – Doug Wolfgram/GRAFX,…

I have a couple (4) 60MHz pentiums and they scream compared to my 66MHz 486's. I really wisy 3DS were written for the MAC. From what I learned yesterday, the 64 bit addressing on my new Power PC gives it about 22 times faster throughput in calculations that a 90MHz…
