I uploaded a brief message about an Amiga 1000 which I would like to sell. I gave it a description and keyword as requested…Is there anything else I should do?
I tried it out (WB 1.2 in df0:, blank formatted disk in df1:) with a COPY DF0: DF1: ALL, but the resulting disk is not bootable…when I put it in and do a reset, I get the full screen request for the WB disk. What did I do wrong?
Thanks…I'll give it a shot!
#FRUSTRATED!!!!
Message #94936
I am getting REALLY frustrated with my Amiga. Besides the overall (and seemingly never-ending) lack of support which CBM has given this machine, I am now having problems using Workbench which seem to be the result of very inconsistent programming. Why is it that when I put in the 1.2…
#DOWNLOADING PROBLEMS
Message #93755
Excuse me if I've missed something about this, but I am unable to download the new Amic program in DL4. On any transfer attempt, I get a time out, and I've tried several comm programs, so I do not feel the problem is on my end. Is there a system…
#ICONS
Message #76772
Don, I tried what you suggested to get my old 1.1 disks to display icons faster from WB…only problem is, the copies I made don't boot now. The originals disks t do boot, but when I try to boot the copies made with ram:copy df0: df1: all, I get the…
Thanks for the help…I'll try it now.
#ICONS and 1.2
Message #76751
I can't figure out why when I put in WB 1.2, and click on it, the icons pop up almost instantly, but when I put in other disks, the icons take as long as they used to in 1.1 to come up…does anyone know the explanation to this slow disk…
Don: tried your suggestions, and it must be the cable. I am not using a standard AMiga cable, but I thought I had fixed it so it would work…oh well, guess I'll have to buy the RIGHT cable…thanks for your help.
#QUEENS DEALER
Message #75862
Does anyone know of an Amiga Dealer in Queens, NY who might have a parallel printer cable for the Amiga?
Here are the pinouts for the Panasonic HV-P1080i printer: 1-STROBE 2-9 – DATA 1-8 10- ACK 11 BUSY 12-PE 13- SLCT 14-AUTO FEED XT 16-SG 17-FG 18- +5V (output) 31-PRIME 32 ERROR 33-SG In comparing these with the Amiga pinouts (assuming STROBE is Data Ready, which I believe it is)…

Trade in for A2000
Message #71314
I don't know about you, but I did not keep my original box for the Amiga I purchased over a year ago. If this is a policy they insist on (having the Amiga back in its original box with styrofoam), those folks at CBM have less intelligence than I thought…

#Sidecar?
Message #67827
If Commodore acutally thinks we (I) will pay $995 for the Sidecar when I can buy an entire IBM-clone package for that price, they're nuts. I think I have finallycome to the decision to abandon the Amiga. Yes, it is a GREAT computer, but I want a computer which is…
I do use a term program which autochops….I'll try your idea and hope it works! Thanks…Jeff
#MACVIEW
Message #58384
Does anyone know of any problems which exist in the MACVIEW program, which generates the message ''not a MacPaint file'' when you try to load? I heard something about having to diddle around with a bite at the top of files which have that problem. Does anyone know about this?…
I got that issue…maybe it just SEEMS like it's been a long time since the last issue. Are there any other AMiga-specific pubs. that are relatively new?
#AMAZING COMPUTING
Message #51703
Has Amazing Computing folded? I am a subscriber and have not rec'd an issue since early December. What's going on here, and what about those of us who have pre-paid our subscriptions?
I just got my envelope back today—they returned it for $.07 postage due! I'll send it off again with the correct postage, and see what happens. Thanks for the reply…Jeff
#GRIDIRON
Message #50723
Recently I sent a check for $5 to Bethesda software for the upgrade to the Gridiron game. My check was cashed more than three weeks ago, but I have yet to receive my new disk…has anyone experienced problems with this company?
#IBM COMPATIBILITY
Message #48745
Well, if you put it THAT way…I guess the sidecar (if it ever becomes available) may be worth looking into. Thanks…Jeff

Am not using Vadic protocol, but possibly I just need to wait a little longer once I get online. You're right about Online! at 2400–doesn't work very well at all!
I will try waiting a little longer…..thanks!
T1931 EMULATOR
Message #46586
This may sound like a strange request, but does anyone know of a Texas Instruments 931 terminal emulator for Amiga? How 'bout something close? Thanks…
#2400 BAUD
Message #46583
I have been trying to access CIS at 2400 baud for some time now, and have been unable to do so. CIS insists that the two NY (area 212) numbers I am trying are working correctly, but when I call them I am unable to get the User ID: prompt.…
I would also like to know what the procedure is for upgrading…I was VERY pleased with the first version…and can only IMAGINE how much better the second is!
#FINDING 1.2
Message #41760
I understand that the recently released 1.2 is supposed to be gotten from the dealer where you bought your Amiga, but I am unable to do that. I bought mine in Miami, FL and have just moved to NY City. How can I get a copy? Can
I have had similar experiences with Comp-U-Store, and urge everyone else who has to jump down Compuserve's throats on this or they're going to further tarnish an already tarnished reputation.

Mitch… I could use that more elaborate set-up instuction as you mentioned. I created a WB diskette which boots to cli, and eliminated the "fat" from it, leaving me about 50% free space. I tried to compile some source, but get numerous errors with preprocessor commands. I particularly am getting…

There is also Amiga World, but that magazine does not compare to the others available. Besides being filled with glossy pictures and little or no “information'' it has a publication date/deadline which has it running about two to three months behind, as far as up to date information. Besides THAT,…

COMMODORE LAYOFF UPDATE
Message #19328
Thought this might interest most of you who are worried about the recent Commodore layoffs… I have a Dow Jones ticker in my office, and a story just ran regarding CBM and the Amiga. CBM Chairman Irving Gould says overseas operations are strong, but the company's "U.S. operations turned in…

Message #18918
Is there something wrong with the system lately? Usually, I can select “All authorized topics'', do a “QUick Scan'' and get a quick summary of ALL messages that have come in. When I did it today, I got only a few messages listed, even though a couple hundred had apparently…
