A screamer is someone who isn't a moaner. Seriously, the Toaster Screamer is a big accelerator box that makes Lightwave render so absurdly fast that one screamer will render about as fast as 20-30 A4000s. Kind of a Porsche 911 of peripherals. And yours, for a mere $10K. Bob

Files with .lzh and .lha extensions are compressed and have to be decompressed with LHARC or LZH, available in many fine file libraries near you. Files with .jpg are JPEG lossy-compression files, and your A3000 cannot display them unless you have some kinky graphics hardware installed. Bob

You don't have enough memory. You know you don't. Wouldn't you like to add 8 megs of cache to your hard drive? That would really speed up those file loads…and Lightwave could sure use the extra overhead…not to mention shadowing your entire workbench partition to ram for that 10% speed…

Superbase Pro is a very solid product. The biggest problem it has (IMHO) is that it is not fast off the disk; i.e. it has inefficient file structures. However, if your apps are speed-critical it doesn't take much to write your programs so as to minimize disk access. Bob

All true. I didn't know they had switched. At the time they first wrote WP, however, using assembly made sense – the machines just had no speed, and WP was incredibly feature-rich and intuitively interfaced, both of which suck CPU cycles…assembly was the fastest way to do it. Bob

Actually, their discontinuation might just save you a bunch of money…when the stock gets low, the prices will drop as they try to get that inventory out the door…of course, you won't be able to get support, but hey…the money you'll save…
At the messages prompt in the forum. If you're using an automated access program, I can't help you; I use TAPCIS and it handles this for me, so I dunno how to do it myself .
