#214827 Amosaic Crashes Message #214958
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · New Amiga Users October 10, 1995 10:47 PM
I will try the earlier AmiTCP version. I had gotten it to work at some point, and I can't remeber what I had different. Maybe it was AmiTCP that made the difference. Thanks. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
That doesn't surprise me with C=. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
Sounds like it, I think it was Acer. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
#195058 silly to think Message #195078
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · SoapBox April 28, 1995 6:19 PM
I don't believe it's dead technology, I think the Amiga operating system can still hold it's own against OS/2 and Windows. I am willing to wait and see if Escom really follows through. I think it would be silly not to see what happens. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
I don't have any facts on C= PCs. I just know the same, that at some point before the bancruptcy, C= licensed out the name and somebody was making them. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
#195067 IBM mainframes Message #195076
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · SoapBox April 28, 1995 6:19 PM
I was speaking about Commodore and IBM. I don't remember speaking about any other company. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000

I wasn't speaking about just PC's, IBM mainframes were around before Commodore started producing desktop computers. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
#194783 IBM mainframes Message #194919
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · SoapBox April 27, 1995 8:24 PM

#194734 Who knows Message #194746
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · SoapBox April 26, 1995 8:52 PM
You would think they would at least want to recoup some of the costs of buying the rights to Commodore. But for the time being it sounds like Amigas will be built in China. I'll believe it when I see new stock at the dealer.
#IBM mainframes Message #194704
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · SoapBox April 26, 1995 6:08 PM
No I don't agree. Commodore does (or didn't) have a good rep. They weren't even in the same class as IBM. IBM was producing computers when Commodore was producing typewriters, and IBM got computers into business, where Commodore failed to do that with the Amiga. The "game computer" label for…
Yes but is the Commodore name and logo stong enough to sell boxes after they get those boxes into stores? Who knows, maybe it is. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
Yes but I am still wondering if the brand recogition is still more valuable than the Amiga line of computers? Maybe it is, maybe not. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
Is it just my view but wouldn't the Amiga be Commodore's most valuable assest? I mean except for Commodore's Europe distribution channel, is the logo to a computer company that was mismanaged into bancruptcy that valuable when put on a PC running Windows like so many other computer manufacturers? It…
#193375- Scala MultiMedia Message #193481
John, I know the current market limitations, let's hope on Thursday things will have a little clearer direction. If things do improve how about a text roll over a background with the ability to mask out part of the screen. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
#193234- #Scala MultiMedia Message #193247
John, I wish you would release new Amiga versions, there is alot Scala MM does on the Amiga, but there is still things I would like to see future versions do. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000

>It just makes me so d**ned angry that the Amiga's superior architecture >was so badly handled, both the technology and the marketing, and its >video can still run circles around pentium machines… That sums up my feelings. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · Personal Apps January 22, 1995 10:56 PM
Anybody read the short article in the February issue of Video about Comdex, complaining about the PC version of Lightwave running on Windows NT, and using the "old Amiga GUI"? It sounded like he prefered TrueSpace to Lightwave. Then he went on about Elastic Reality. He should have started his…
#174697 Amiga in CIS Mag Message #174725

From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · Using 2.0 – 3.0 November 27, 1994 11:37 PM
Yes the first Amiga was the 1000. I believe there are recovery services that can recover data from trashed drives. As for adding a HD to the 1000. Most all hard drives for the 1000 stopped production long ago, you might find a used one at a dealer. The good…

#158415 A1000 upgrade Message #158496
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware August 4, 1994 9:21 AM
Simple, you replace the WCS board with a Rejuvenator, change the internal floppy with a 1/3 height version and then the accelerator/RAM sits on top of the shield. The SCSI interface is snapped on the side. Then I still have the video slot unused if I want to add a…

Toby, Glad to help. I have 1 meg chip RAM, and the 68030 accelerator has 8.5 meg 32-bit fast RAM, (512K of the 32-bit holds the ROM). Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000, the only Amiga without the C= logo.

Toby, I see Brian answered most of your questions. I would think the best bet these days is to go right to DKB rather than mail order. There isn't too much 1000 specific stuff being sold these days. Glad to help. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000, the only Amiga…
#157727 #A1000 upgrade Message #157743
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware July 28, 1994 9:56 AM
No I am afraid the only way to run 2.04 or higher is by using the Kickstart ROM. Kickstart for 2.0 is 512K and the WCS on the stock 1000 is only 256K. 2.1 is a software only upgrade to those who already have the 2.0 Kickstart ROM installed. There…
#157611 AutoPilot on A1000 Message #157714
From: Richard Erickson Amiga User Forum · Communications July 28, 1994 1:18 AM
I wish I could tell you I run a special version of AutoPilot for the 1000, but I don't. My 1000 has a 2.04 Kickstart ROM and 2.1 AmigaDOS, that along with 1 meg chip and 8 meg fast with a 030. Back in 1990 I added a Rejuvenator to…

#151077 Commodore Message #151115
Only facts to go on yet, Commodore is in voluntary liquidation, A number of Commodore companies are still in business though. It appears there are a number of parties interested, in Commodore's assets. But no word from anybody yet. AW did commit several pages in the July issue to the…
#150965 Rumor Update Message #151032
That's the advantage of the core technology, it was years ahead of it's time so it didn't have to change. It's still ahead in some areas. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000, the only Amiga without the C= logo.
It just would be nice to see some kind of official announcement so the rumors can quiet down. I think it's needed, but when has C= ever done what is needed. Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000, the only Amiga without the C= logo.
Did they say when there would be an official announcement? Richard -> AutoPilot on the A1000, the only Amiga without the C= logo.

There are several good SW or PD term programs. Terminus, Term, Ncomm are the better known. They most likely are here. I have never heard of a program for IBM that reads or writes Amiga. Since you have a 1200, the CrossDOS program that is included with AmigaDOS 3.0 can…

I would think DKB still has some Kwikstart IIs to sell. While I am still buying software and hardware, I am waiting until things start going again to (notice healty dose of optimism) get busy on adding a second Amiga to the 1000, which still does a terrific job. I…

No, there isn't alot of demand, but it doesn't help when Infoworld says something like they got complaints from everybody who uses the Amiga in business, and both of them were really angry, or something like that.
