John, Congratulations on your 5 STAR rating in this month's INFO mag. (For Interchange). What went wrong on InterFont. It only got 4.5 Stars (grin). Keep Up The Good Work.

Would it be possible to have a module written that converts from)6+lpt-animate to BOSCH? A friend of mine wants to know. — Colin —

Thanks, I might try that… the 'problem' I have is this: I have plenty of commercial logos that I have done via digitizers and paint programs, which are currently just IFF images… it would be nice to be able to load these to trace around to get the 3D effect,…

If you have a genlock & a camera, it eliminates the need to load pictures to trace. Just trace the video!

John Foust here. Thanks for the kind words about InterFont! Your comments are much in line with what we're been hearing from other InterFont owners. As for tracing IFF images, we knew a lot of people wanted to do that, but couldn't justify it to be added to InterFont. It…

Altruism is a tried and true publicity gimmic. Point: IBM is closing a plant in Colorado Springs, CO that presently employs about 550 people. They announce the plant closing well in advance. Furthermore they indicate that all laid-off employees will get two years pay, plus $25,000 re-location expenses, plus some…

Harriet, many thanks for the word (both here and mail) about the compatibility tween Terrain and Silver. You are right; I must have been very sleepy the evening I convinced myself that they were not compatible. I am glad that you have made Silver 3.0 a first priority still, since…

I was just curious. As a matter of fact, not being able to convert from 3.0 back to 2.0 has bitten me at least once. Now that Syndesis is doing a TS 3.0 InterChange module, I'll be able to import things to other renders again!

Well…. 1) I THOUGHT that Terrain saved in 3.0 format, so I wanted one in order to convert the Terrain landscapes to other formats (currently INTERCHANGE does not support 3.0) 2) When I create objects in 3.0, it is easier to upload them to boards, etc in 2.0 format for…

From: John Pendergrass Amiga Vendor · Syndesis December 15, 1988 4:11 PM
Well……… I WAS WRONG, as I humbly admitted to Impulse. Terrain DOES generate 2.0 files, which your INTERCHANGE handles just fine… I must have been spaced out the last time I tried it, 'cause I'd of sworn that it made 3.0 files…. oh well…. In any case, the 3.0 module…

Stan, thanks for butting in… I checked and you are RIGHT, and I am WRONG about Terrain (natch, since you wrote it…) I suspect that when I tried it earlier, I saved the Terrain as a Silver CELL, rather than as an object… oh well, live and learn… thanks… –jp–

John – Sorry to butt in but Terrain generates our 2.0 file format not the 3.0 flavor. Terrain was available prior to 3.0 being shipped. Though I haven't tried it objects from Terrain should be able to be "Interchanged" to SC3D or VS3D.

Well, I'm working on it. The next thing we're doing is updating all the modules out now, so VideoScape 2.0, Sculpt Animate hierarchies, and Turbo Silver 3.0. Things take time. As for the fractal generator, have you seen the Terrain program from Impulse? Also, perhaps you could relay a description…

InterFont is a system for designing your own 3D fonts, and then making titles with them… Six pre-made fonts are included, along with an editor to make your own. You just enter a word, like "AMIGA", and an object is created in the format you want – Sculpt, VideoScape, Turbo…

They're just as valid systems of coordinates. You can use anything for coordinates, as long as they are orthogonal vector spaces, as I recall from college.
