#12898- New Media Article Message #12902
John, Thanks, we figured out that it was Schrieber's Imagine line of IPAS routines. I've seen some of their plug-ins, or rather the results of them, and they are very, very cool. -GreG

>> but when is v3.3 due out?
Non of my TSR's have changed in quite a while. After I started having the crashes I bought the Norton virus and disk programs. >> Did you try booting with “clean'' Config.sys, and Autoexec.bat files? > Also, what about your mouse, or graphics drivers? > Have you run a diagnostic…
#12842 Lighting weirdness Message #12888
GreG- Thanks for the info. I knew, more or less, why it wasn't working, I just figured there was a way to make it work. You told me what I needed to know in that regard. I actually thought of both transparancy and fog and even thought I tried to…

John, Also, please note my user id above (74774,232). The one you used before (75300,1641) is no longer active. Wouldn't want any mail getting mis-directed. -GreG
#12847 Update schedualing Message #12860
John, I don't have a concrete date as to when 3.3 will ship. Impulse really went at the attributes/texture/brush requestors in terms of usability and functionality. I spoke with Impulse today, and it is being finalized. In fact, a feature (not yet announced) has been moved up for the 4.0…
Sam, What about TSRs, programs running in the background, like a virus detector? Did you try booting with “clean'' Config.sys, and Autoexec.bat files? Did you install some other new software on your computer just before the crashes began happening? Also, what about your mouse, or graphics drivers? Mouse driver might…
#12708 Metals Message #12852
Metals won't work unless there's something in the scene for them to reflect, or a Reflection Brush (such as a landscape) on the object. -Tim
#12772 2 questions Message #12851
Michael, Last time I checked, the world size in Imagine was 16,000 units for ray-tracing and 32,000 in scanline. 'Trouble is, I can't remember whether that's 16,000 units in any direction, or 16,000 in size (namely 8000 units in any direction). Scanline is supposed to be theoretically of unlimited sized,…
#12644 Path bug in 3.1, 3.2 Message #12850
David, Is it really necessary to use paths at all? Can't you just set up keyframes were you need the object to be, and let spline interpolation do accel/decel automatically? -Tim
#Update schedualing Message #12847
GreG, I don't know when this question was last asked (I haven't been around for a while, so forgive me if I'm being redundant), but when is v3.3 due out? -John

>> You seem to be plagued with nasty little annoyances lately. Good luck with the crash thing…you gotta hate that.
#12841 #Lighting weirdness Message #12842
Darin, Ok, I knew where you were going once I read you modelled a light. A light source is defined by the axis of an object itself. In the case of a sphere with the axis at the center, the light is emitted by the axis. Knowing this, lets take…
#Lighting weirdness Message #12841
GreG- I ran across a situation that I can't figure out. I was trying to model a street light of sorts and this is how it went. I created the main lamp part (metal or whatever) and then added a sphere for the globe containing the bulb. I made the…

>> Really? I scaled it down to about 20 (grid size) in the stage editor and still got the error message. Strange.
#12708 Metals Message #12828
Hey Bruce. I'm a new user to Imagine, and have had a tough time getting used to the way Imagine uses attributes. The thing you have to remember is that whenever you see a value indented in the Attributes requester, don't put anything there. Only put a value in a…

>> I _believe_ I covered the differences between the two. Someone else who upgraded from LT to 3.0 hopefully will jump in and correct me if there's more.
>> I think I'm going to do a complete re install of Imagine (should have thought of this before) before I post any messages to Mike.
#12795 #Need info. Message #12813
>> Is there some information on the differences between the full version and the lite version available?
#12790 #2 questions Message #12812
Sam, You should be be able to select all (shift-a) and scale the scene down within the stage editor. By all, that includes the camera and lights. This will keep all relative positions intact. Of course, you must update the SIZE bar for the objects for it to take effect.…
>> I haven't heard of this type of behavior from anyone else either here in CIS

>> One thing that kind of sucks is that you have to scale it down in the detail editor, not the stage editor.
#12050 #Need info. Message #12795
GreG, I understand that Imagine offers an LT version. Is there some information on the differences between the full version and the lite version available? Thanks, Len

>> The world octree size error means that your scene is too large, that is, the area it's occupying has exceeded Imagine's world. The way to resolve this is to scale down the scene.
Sam, I haven't the foggiest. I haven't heard of this type of behavior from anyone else either here in CIS or on the Imagine Mailing List. Don't know what to tell you. Leave a message for Mike over in ANVENA, not AmigaVen. He'll never see it in AmigaVen. -GreG
Well, GreG, it looks like the crashes I've been having are being caused by Imagine. I went out and bought Norton Utilities 8.0 and Norton antivirus and ran every type of test they had. No memory problems, no disk problems, no IRQ conflicts and no virus (viruses? viri?). Any other…

Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to use the 'metals' textures in Imagine? How do I change the numbers in the boxes so that I get the different types of metals and finishes? Thanks Bruce Van Horn

#12681 More info on 3.3 Message #12686
Bob, I don't believe Impulse has settled on any pricing for the Windows version, it's really premature to do so. I have heard a few thoughts on the subject, but nothing concrete. What I have heard though so far, should make upgrading from IM4.0 affordable. -GreG
#12673 #More info on 3.3 Message #12681
GreG do you have any idea what the windoze version might run those of us in the update program? I'm sure I'm going to buy it reguardless (don't tell Impulse that:)))) but was wondering if you had heard of any target range for the pricing? Bob……..
