#216865 #Scala MM300 Message #216922
From: john meggie Amiga User Forum · Personal Apps October 27, 1995 11:06 PM
John, The transitions and animations on the Windows side just aren't smooth when compared to the Amiga. I am hoping the Amiga can grab some attention over here where I work, but I am not pushing anymore. I am finding myself becoming more of a cross-platform worker. Good Luck on…

Chris, Doesn't the program RealConvert convert dxf files to a real objects. Then they can be converted to spline mesh types and if neccesary use triple end points/lines. Just a thought.

Hi Mark, I use Real 3D daily and I am quite pleased with it. The interface is quirky at first, but that's because it is so flexible and customizable. I believe the programs's strongest point is its rendering output – absolutely gorgeous. The weakest point is its abilitly to use…

Hi Dan, Glad to help when I can. You have to do a lot of experimenting with the screenmodes and environments to get the hang of them. Once you get that animation screen to open up, go to Environment>Open Screens and open a screenmode of your choice. Then you'll be…
From: john meggie Amiga Arts Forum · Audio/MIDI April 28, 1995 11:40 PM
Hi again Dan. The problem you are having loading the projects are because they originally made in a different screen mode than is currently available. The project should still load in a default (workbench) screen mode. From here you can change the environment to a sreenmode of your preference. One…

Dan, Real 3D comes with an Opal_r3d.library that goes in your LIBS: directory. Once in the program, you enter this lib name in the External Screen>Settings dialog box. I use it for my Opal board all the time. Hope this helps.

Thanks Wayne, those are excellent suggestions. Some I have tried, some I will try some day. For now, I'm tired of fooling with this. I dug out a ROM switcher I had lying around and put KS 2.04 on one and 3.1 one the other. The tape drive _does_ work again…

Joachim, That's interesting. I'm using version 1.26. I have a hunch its not the Workbench version stopping Diavolo from working because the lock-ups are instantaneous. The other programs lockup randomly after a few minutes.

Hi Wayne, Well I don't understand it. My A2000 PPS '040 with 3.1 sure don't work with my tape drive after trying two different controllers with three different backup programs. And it sure did work before 3.1 (using WB2.1). Darn! I'm still scratching my head and trying different things. I…

Joachim, I have not had luck with Diavolo and 3.1. Are you using tape to backup to? By any chance did you have incompatibilities with Amiback or QBack?

Robert, I think backing up to a tape drive is a different animal. It took me a lot of work to get it running at first, but its been doing fine for two years under WB 2.04 or 2.1. Major disappointment.

Jonathan, The problems I am having are random lock-ups and gurus while backing up to a Tanberg tape drive on an A2000 with WB 3.1. I had no problem doing this for some time using AmiBack or QBack on WB 2.04 and WB 2.1. I have tried using GVP Series…

I would bet you Scala software could help with the animation speed and the pause between anims, but you'll have to let Scala compile the animation in its own anim format. What resolution/colors are you running in. John Chang from Scala is usually around these forums.

Yes Dale, I wish I could afford a monitor that scans higher, but this monitor was only $600. And I think 1024 x 768 will be hold me for a while. Just for comparison, I noticed Mitsubishi's latest 21" offering lists for $3200.
