Don, >If somebody could just show me how LS is more like adding a 4 barrel >carb and turbo charger to a 2 barrel carbed engine I might go along >with the way LS was marketed. Let me try. If you eliminate one function call and replace it with "inline"…

Bob, >I'm sorry I misunderstood but your ad says that you just "pour it >in." YOU pour it in. We had to pound it in . >I never said anything about giving anything away. I suggested that >your product, if it does what it claims, is something I would like…

Robert, PMJI, but Liquid Speed is hand optimized algorithms. You don't just "add optimization" to 3D Studio. It takes time and risk…not every optimization you try will pay off. We put the time into Liquid Speed. I promise you, there is no justification whatsoever for just giving it to 3D…
#128888 3DSR4 & LS Message #129433
>No Mark, I believe Chuck is saying that if you have a LS dongle then >you will have the r4 update as soon as you install 3DSr4, as the LS >file will be on the install disks. For non-LS users, there will just >be a useless file sitting there in…
Martin, We will move our Liquid Speed customers to R4 with little or no trouble. We haven't finalized our plans as of yet, however. Watch this space for plans as R4 nears ship… By the way, how do you like Liquid Speed now that you've used it for a while??…
Mark, Thanks. I'll play with it. I assume it sends the file to a pre-defined name in the current or root directory. Is this true? Brian
Ignacio, Many S3 cards will not run at 24 bit color without a certain amount of memory. Are you able to get 24 bit color with an RCPADI driver??? Which one are you using. We will look into the problem. Could you please provide me with the following information: 1.…
Can you tell me what the keystroke is for the "undocumented" 3D Studio feature that allows you to capture the screen to a file? I've seen it up here before, but lost the message that contained the information. Best Regards, Brian
Jim, Congradulations. Please put me on that mailing list. Vibrant Graphics, Inc. 12741 Research Blvd. Suite 102 Austin, Tx 78759 512-250-1711 Best Regards, Brian

Dan, I would be happy to help you with your article, and would be able to provide the raw data that Don so patiently created. Please give me a call. I'd be interested in hearing the details of the article you are writing and can provide additional info on Liquid…
#90826 #3DS3 IS SLOW!! Message #91368
John, When you start 3DS and get the Liquid Speed banner, be sure that the version listed is 1.0.2. We had a problem with 1.0.1 that caused LS to perform poorly in some systems. If you didn't receive our update (free) in the mail you can download the new LS…
Spencer, If you can tell me the version of the S3 chip you are running and the RAMDAC, we can find a mode that will work reliably for you. Best Regards, Brian
PMJI, have you tried one of the generic S3 modes. There should be one for the version of the S3 used on your Stealth 24. Is this mode causing your instability? Curious Regards, Brian, Vibrant Graphics
#3DS Rollercoaster Message #87880
Gary, I heard through our UK office that there is a huge rollercoaster being built there and that a "fly-around" was being shown on the "tele" done in the 3DS keyframer. Apparently some famous rollercoaster designer in the States is doing the design. Any idea who's doing it?? Best Regards,…
#85721 Video Boards Message #85743
Walter, The next release of the inline drivers will not have support for MGA. We have had a great deal of interest in MGA and it has our highest priority in engineering. The next release of the inline drivers will support MGA, but Autodesk has not scheduled that release yet.…
Jim, If it's good, you got a deal. I could use a small "spill" of some bluish liquid immediately. I have always wondered how it would look to have the Liquid Speed logo rendered in 3DS. If you would like to take on the latter, I'll give you the software.…
In November Vibrant Graphics introduced Liquid Speed software which accelerates 3DS. Our marketing department is interested in renderings of various Liquids, Drops, Poorings, etc. to accent our marketing literature. If you have something like this available, or know of something in the public domain, we would be interested in hearing…
John, I've learned my lesson about estimating when the inline driver update will be available. Thanks for everyone's patience. Matrox support WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE in the next release of the inline driver. Expect at least a 30 day lag after this next update. We have been diludged with requests…
Greg, Any mention of Liquid Speed in that there book O' yers? Brian

Phil, Liquid Speed isn't a driver, so it won't need to be updated to support any boards. I guess that means INSTANT upgrade. Is that worth the $? Best Regards, Brian

>Speaking of Liquid Speed , did you get your upgrade? That was one >of the best orchestrated upgrades I've seen in awhile, although I >don't think in my case there was any appreciable difference in speed, >how bout you? Most folks won't see an increase in Liquid Speed performance. Only…
Ara, Look for a new release from Autodesk within 30 days. It will be made available here on compuserve first. Best Regards, Brian
VLM Updates Message #78872
Chris, The compuserve folks will be the first people to get the inline update. Autodesk will be responsible for the majority of the updates. Watch this space… Brian
Omar, Is there a problem with the drivers that came with 3DS? Regards, Brian
The ATI Ultra Pro is currently supported by the 3DS inline drivers. MGA support will come in about 30 days. Otherwise they are both popular cards for 3DS.
Ara, Liquid Speed will work with the inline drivers, VESA, and VGA for sure. In the case of the later (VESA and VGA) it is not as effective. We worked very closely with the developers of the inline drivers (us ) and were able to make some direct calls from…

Viper support will appear sooner that MGA support, but both are in the works. Expect Viper support within 2 weeks. MGA support may take 30 to 60 days.
#75588 #Liquid Speed-ier Message #76344
Carl, Thanks for the info. Everyone should now have received their update disk. We did it automatically (as we should have). If anyone was disappointed with your Liquid Speed performance and did not get an update please contact Vibrant for the update. Best Regards, Brian Vibrant Graphics, (800) 937-1711
#Viper PCI Problem Message #76343
David, If you've had this board for sometime, it may not be a drivers problem. Did you go through the propoer Viper INI setup?? I'm an amatuer at this stuff, but it sounds like that may be YOUR problem.

#Number9 GXE Message #76341
John, It is a big project, but we have come to terms with Matrox. I expect something in 30 to 60 days…but don't quote me on that just yet. Best Regards, Brian
#Number9 GXE Message #76340
>By the way, any problems with the VL Bus version on the GXE that you >know about? VL bus loves us. That's why we're so perplexed with PCI problems.
VLM Updates Message #76339
Larry, Would your problem be solved by a "Home Use" lock at cost that you could keep in your brief case or suit case all the time? Best Regards, Brian
James, I forwarded your request to Casey. Best Regards, Brian

#73302- 3D-Studio Accelerators Message #73503
Dave, I assume you mean the Matrox MGA-PCI/2 (although I have assumed wrong in the past). The inline drivers found with 3DSR3 do not support Matrox at this time. We are working on it, but don't expect to see support in 3D Studio before the second quarter of 94. ATI…
#73142 Liquid Speed Message #73502
Don, Thanks for your information. Clearly, Liquid Speed does not bring you the value that it would bring someone who works with even moderately sized models. However, I think that a 1 year payback would be acceptible in most businesses. There is definitely going to be a need for better…
#73302- 3D-Studio Accelerators Message #73501
Dave, Matrox is not currently supported with the inline 3DS drivers. You will need to run it via a VESA interface to get higher resolutions or use a proprietary RDPADI/RCPADI driver delivered with the board. We are working closely with Matrox to get their boards added. The ATI ultra-pro is…
#Liquid Speed Message #73006
Mike, Just got your message. I won't argue any of the points you've made, but I feel I should share some of our experiences and viewpoints regarding software protection. > It won't even come close to doing for 3DSr3 what Liquid Speed does. Sorry. Mike, while we disagree on many…

Liquid Speed Message #72015
Gus, We have targeted end of January for the first 3D Studio inline driver update. We are examining the problems with the new Diamond Viper BIOS now and hope to have it fixed in the January update. Watch this space for details. Best Regards, Brian
Dave, To maximize the performance of the 3D Studio modeling functions (3D Editor, Keyframer, etc.) you will want to pick a card that is supported directly by the inline 3DS R3 drivers. The Viper and the ATI cards are currently supported. Matrox is not currently supported, but we expect to…
