Thanks for the info! -=> Paul McCarthy
Brent, I'm interested. Let's talk and arrange details. Give me a call or leave E-mail. 212-255-7900 (day) 718-429-5576 (eve) Thanks. -=> Paul McCarthy
Thanks for the info. Think they will fix the old discs? I'd be willing to pay a small upgrade fee. -=> Paul McCarthy
No the Walnut Creed CD's won't work but two NASA CD's I have work fine. Not that I can do much with then on the CDTV. Just tonight I tried a Network Support Encyclopedia CD that Novell sent me at work. The disc mounted ok and, I was able to…
I just recently tried a number of CDROMS in my CDTV. No extensive testing was done I just booted the CDTV off a straight 1.3 WorkBench and, then poped in a CD. Two disks from Walnut Creek, "Desktop Library and AB20 disk" resulted in a Task Held Errors right after…
I've had the same problem with Seagates and the same solution too! What works for a while is to just leave the machine on until you can bear to be without it long enough to swap the drives. These things should come with some kind of crank so you can…
You could try one of those CD lens cleaners and see if that works. See my other message about my adventures while cleaning my drive. -=> Paul McCarthy
The cleaner that came with the disc. I thinks it just alcohol, at least that's what it smells like. -=> Paul McCarthy
Good news! I got my drive working again. I talked to Toshiba tech support and they told me that if you set the test dip switch to the on position the drive will function as a player only and that you could change tracks by pressing the eject button for…
Can I jump in here with some of my own troubles? I have the same drive and it worked fine for about six months and then just sort of faded away. It started by not reading certain discs. Sometimes booting with the disc in the drive would solve the problem…
Charles, If you can hook up a floppy disk to the CDTV and boot the machine from that you will be able to read regular CD-ROM disks. It seems that if you boot the CDTV from a CD it causes it to reboot when you remove the disc if you…

Wangtek tape drives
Message #65272
Hi all, Has anybody any experience with Wangtek tape drives? I've seen some of their models for sale pretty cheap and was wondering if they would work with a GVP scsi controller. The model that I think would work is a 5125ES. I already have the Ami-Back software that is…
Thanks for the info Mark! I'll start wiht the voyager disks. …….. Paul McCarthy – Whapping! – from New York City!
I'd just like to slip a quick question in here. I just recently picked-up ImageMaster and would like to try out some of the FITS images also. What NASA disks are a good choice to start with? Is the Sampler Pack Ok? …….. Paul McCarthy – Whapping! – from New…
What I was doing was tiling and it was a while ago. If I recall only parts of the file printed and some blank pages popped out also. When I get a chance I'll try it again and let you know what happens. I don't really use or need the…
Sunny: I just purchased a CDROM called AB20 from a company called Walnut Creek CDROM. It's a collection of Amiga programs from some NASA computer (named AB20) that was hooked into InterNet. There's quite a collection including; games, fonts, euro-demos, anims, pics and other stuff about 290 megs worth. Their…
Just to stick my two cents in here. Autotile failed to work for me on a 20" X 20" page in postscript mode. When I switched to dotmatrix mode the file printed OK. …….. Paul McCarthy – Whapping! – from New York City!
This sounds like something I saw at an AES show a couple of years ago. If I recall correctly it was a system set up by Senheiser to use their mikes. (is that the way it's spelled) …….. Paul McCarthy – Whapping! – from New York City!
That's a good question! I'm not sure if the enhancement effects bitmaps or not. Does HP have a forum here? Maybe you could get some info there?
Jerry, Just as a point of info I am also running 2.04. Would this make a difference?
Just like to throw my two cents in here. From what I understand the IIIP has the resolution enhancement that comes on the HPIII.
Jerry, Thanks for the info, I'll give it another try and let you know how I make out. I was trying to run them by executing the startup-sequence after I had assigned over the system directories. One of the programs in the SS is looking for that bookmark lib I…
Jim, I have a Commodore 2620 accelerator board with 4meg of RAM that I'd like to swap. The board is a 14mhz 020 setup with 4meg of 32bit RAM. I'll even consider throwing in a 2meg expansion board to sweeten the deal. My number at work is 212-255-7900.
Thanks for the tip. I'll look into it.
Jonathan, Call HyperMedia they distribute the software. Be sure to speak to one of the owners. Their there after 4PM central time, before that a service answers their calls and you could get lost in the shuffle. I called and spoke to Chris I believe and he sent the software…
John, If you look in your tools drawer there should be a program called ShowConfig that will give some info on what chips are in your machine. Give it a try.
I've tried assinging all the system directories to the CD with no luck. Just have to keep trying I guess.
I'm using the same setup as you, with a GVP Combo board. The Xiphias dictionary disk shows an icon for a script file but won't run. I've tried assigning all the system directories to the CD but still no go. A search of the CD's system files doesn't reveal any…
I'm gonna toss in my two cents here. I use a program called RSIZE that changes the size of a shell window. Maybe using this command in your SS at the beginning would be able to resize it to a full size window? I think I DL this from CIS,…
#CDROM & CDTV
Message #54764
Has anybody had any luck getting CDTV titles to work on a CD-ROM connected to an A2000 using the CDROM-FS software?! I've tried some of the Xiphias titles (dictionary & time line) with no luck. It fails when it can't find a library called the bookmark.library. Are these libraries built…
Hard-Drive Help
Message #53870
Using brand new cable. I'll check for reselection. Thanks
Don, Thanks for the info. I'll DL the file and give it a try. Thanks again.
Words of wisdom if I ever heard them! Keep your chin up.
I tried a new cable with the same results. Are there any programs that can check a drive for this kind of problem. Some kind of verify after write thing.
Mark, Thanks for the info!

I currently have two hard-drives in my system. One is a Seagate 1096N 80meg and the other is a 157N 45meg. I'm having trouble with the 1096. Both drives are installed internally with the terminating resistors installed only on the 1096 which is last in the chain. The problem is…
Hey Mark, Could you give me an address or a phone number to contact in regard to the NASA disks? Also what software did you use to convert the IBM format images to IFF format? I have a CD-ROM drive on the way and am very interested in these disks.
Finally some good news! I'd thought Commodore had taken leave of their senses with that last price increase. These prices are a little more in line.
A MMU is short for Memory Managment Unit. It was a seperate chip on my Commodore 020 board but is built into the 030 chip on my GVP combo board. (I've since heard that there are some economy 030's that don't have it) What it does is lets you do…
I had a similar problem with HDBackup only my restore got to disk 13 before it crapped out. So I was stuck with a formatted HD and now way to restore it. (Oh joy) And as you said there is no way to get the info from disks after the…
From what I understand unless you have a machine with an MMU you can't run Enforcer. One thing I know is that you have to copy the .info file for the Janus library into the Expansion directory also. There is some information stored in the icon file that the library…
Yo Tony, I've left a couple of messages on your machine and can't seem to get in touch with you. I'm very interested in possibly buying one ( and maybe more then one) of your CD-ROM drives. Give me a call or leave me E-mail. home 718-429-5576 work 212-255-7900 Please…
That's telling 'em Darlene! Keep up the good work! I can't wait to get my PPage 3.0 upgrade and then the PDraw 3.0 upgrade.
For what it's worth! 1) C 2) C 3) C 4) B 5) A, E, H 6) A, B (a great idea), C 7) If it's possible how about just more pages. I know this costs money but I wouldn't mind seeing more ads to see more of the mag.…
Thanks for the info! I want to get one soon and take a load off of my Amiga's power supply.
Mike, I just recently picked up a Bomac tower myself. Sure has lots of room! I'd like to add a second power suppy also. Where did you pick up yours? And about how much was it? Will any `baby AT' style work?
Help!

Can somebody refresh my memory? What does an all red screen mean? I know it means that one of the boot-up diagnostics failed. But which one? I'm having trouble with a GVP 030 combo board. Originaly I started having trouble with the onboard controller so I returned it to GVP…
Sorry
