Denny, Thanks for the info… I'm using the box that I originally bought a SCSI tape drive in for the drive, so it has it's own power supply, thank heavens… I've heard that the 12's have problems when you start running lots of devices off of the undersized A600 PS…
Chris, Thanks for the info & warning… My friend is on a fixed income, so I need all the input I can get! Don Suhr
Denny, Thanks for the info… A bit more than I really want to pay… Don Suhr
#A4k->A12k HD Inst. Help
Message #194680
Thanks for the info… I'll give Redmond a call.
John, That is a bit more than I was interested in throwing at a monitor, but it is also a 20 inch… Sigh. Does it have the full bevy of controls? Like degauss, pincusion in & out, horizontal & vertical positioning/size, and barreling in/out? Is it a shiny or mat…
#A4000 Monitor Advice
Message #179147
Hello, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a monitor to use with a A4000 to replace a C=1950… I need something that syncs from at least 15KHz – 35KHz Horizontal, to at least 50Hz – 80Hz+ Vertical… I'm also looking for something that will do at least…
WarpEngine SCSI Problems
Message #178942
Geir, I'll check out how the WangTEK is set, either sync or async… I think that has a chance, but I'll have to play with it… Thanks for the advice… Don Suhr 73117,1337
John, No, I never got a message for a Warp list server, at least not that I saw… Actually, the warpdrive.device does go in the devs: drawer, while the Warpdrive icon & 16k program go in the expansion drawer. I'm looking at 8mm or DAT tape for a backup device,…
Steve, "Thermal Shutdowns" does not sound promising at all! I never had that problem with the A3640 (at least that I know of)… It sounds like the high-clocked '040's are running as hot as the Pentiums… Hey, there's a thought… They have a "chip freezer" for the Pentium… I wonder…
John, What manufacturer made your Tape drive? Mine is a WangTEK… If yours is as well, I'll have to go out and get an active termination pack… Don Suhr 73117,1337
Norm, Unfortunatly, the board only has one connector. Which means that the board itself is one end of the SCSI chain, although the manual does tell you how to set the jumper to make the termination active and doesn't make mention of changing the resistor packs on the board, mabye…
Jim, What are you doing about heat dissapation? My Warp didn't come with any type of heat-sink or chip cooler… So I loaded the C= heatsink up with heatsink compound and just placed it on top of the '040… Don Suhr 73117,1337
>I hope you get it straighted up. I used to have a Syquest (but blew it up) Ummm, Steve… It wasn't a SQ105m was it? And how did you blow it up in the first place?? I know what you mean about things not wanting to work with one another……
Norm, Ok, Active Terminators… Those Centronic blocks that the Mac uses on the end lines of their drives, along with setting the jumper on the board to provide power out the resistor line, right? Thing is, the WarpEngine is one end of the SCSI chain, so how do you add…
Brad, >Serious SCSI Problems Oy! Not what I wanted to hear, but something that I was growing afraid I might… Thanks for the input… Don 73117,1337
Steve, Zounds. Sounds like Commodore went a bit stingy with something on the A3640… You're about the sixth (including myself) person who had theirs fail. I have tried all types of settings for the SyQuest and WangTek… And all the potential configurations for the resistors as well… I used the…
#WarpEngine SCSI Problems
Message #176962
Hello, After my A3640 card died, I bought a WarpEngine from MacroSystems… And it works like a charm… Except… I have a SyQuest SQ105S SCSI drive and a Wangtek 5150 ES, problem is that when they're both hooked to the WarpEngine, neither one will work. I can use either without…
Dale, I never even thought of that… Will it work with the new 3.1 Fastfilesystem? That is a great idea… I'll have to get some feelers out & pick one up… Thanks again! Don Suhr 73117,1337
Dale, I realized the lack of processor board (Which I knew, but hey… I've been feeling like a Norwegian Blue since the crash) as soon as I got the case off. Ah well, I knew the A4000T's were rare, just didn't know how rare… I'm pretty sure it is the…

#A4000/A3000 Help
Message #166765
Hello, Is it possible to put the processor (CPU) board from an Amiga 3000 into an Amiga 4000? My A4000 died and I am trying to determine if it was the CPU board since with the current state of affairs, it appears as that is the only component I would…
Epson Scanner Fix (p2)
Message #89288
I posted this message, but perhaps to the wrong address, as I still haven't had any response… So here it is again. ———- I'm not sure who I was writing to at ASDG, but I know how a fairly simple fix for the EPSON Scanner Module and stand-alone software package…
EPSON Color Scanners
Message #88351
I'm not sure who I was writing to at ASDG, but I know how a fairly simple fix for the EPSON Scanner Module and stand-alone software package can be implemented. Add a function to both versions of the scanner modules to check the CPU. If an 68040 with a data…
Emplant Questions
Message #88350
Jim, A few quick (or not so quick questions)… 1) Will the BBS be going back online soon? 2) If not, could you post the new empser.device online here? If not, why not? 3) Are you actually starting to take pre-orders for the 486DX emulation? 4) Will "The EDGE" give…
#Old Printer Problem II
Message #150580
Hello, I am trying to get a friend's old printer to work with the Amiga, had gotten some suggestions here, but still can't get it to work. The printer is a Star Gemini 15-X Wide Carriage Dot-Matrix. I tried using a cable with Pin # 14 removed and still cannot…
Don, I tried to print from my Amiga 4000/040 with the same cable that I use in printing to my HP-Laserjet 3 (In either HP or PS mode). It re-positions the print head on a reboot of the Amiga, but when text is sent to it, it fails to print…
#Printer Mystery, Amy 🙁
Message #144559
Hello, I have a mystery. A friend upgraded his A3000 from 2.04 to 2.1. His printer, an old Gemini-15x full-width refuses to print from the Amiga. This has been tried now on a Amiga 2000 (2.1), Two Amiga 3000/030's (2.1) and an Amiga 4000/040… I have tried a number of…
Emplant/Mac & Del Key
Message #80029
Jim, I am using an A4000/040 w/10meg Ram & the current version of the Emplant Mac Emulation software and have found in using Turbocad by IMSI that the Amiga delete key does not seem to be mapped as the Macintosh delete key. Either that or it is not working, as…
What?!? I certainly hope that this is not the final comment on this device, as the current incarnation is quite buggy, at least in my my A4000/040 (Which is a late model and therefore not suspect to the infamous hardware problems). Transfers are sluggish at times and I am forced…
GW, I'm not worried about it, but it is quite visually distracting & I can't very well spool an animation directly to tape while the bloody thing is jumping. I await the "policy" decision & release of the A4098, however I want to be certain that this problem won't be…
Chris, Ok… I couldn't come up with a Firmware # for the scanner, but there were two numbers on it… The first was the serial # 0Y90006173. The second was unmarked on a small label and was B01608001UA168059. My DIP switch settings are: Switch 1: ON/OFF/OFF/ON/OFF/OFF/OFF/OFF Switch 2: ON/OFF/OFF/OFF/OFF/ON/ON/OFF I…
Chris, Sounds good. I will restore my machine to a clean slate and try v2.3 again… If I can convince my friend to bring his A4000/040 over, I will also be able to report on v2.5. I will also get the firmware/version of my Epson ES-300C… Would be a wonderous…
Chris, I just had a thought… What if it's your scanner? Mabye you have a newer revision that has some improved firmware… Something that doesn't produce our suspect errors… Drop me EMail or post a list of what you have (As far as CXchange software and other packages you have…
Jeannie, I just tried a friend's copy of ADPro v2.5 with my scanner & HIS A4000/040 .. Guess what… Same problem… It still puts the scanner into an error mode… Sigh… I guess I'll wait for v2.6… (or 2.7/8/9/3.0…) Thanks for the support… Sorry to say it's for a problem……
Chris, Re: Scanner Cable. – But of course…
John, Glad to hear from someone else online who has the same problem… Although I would prefer if neither of us had it… :> With ImageFX, are you using the Paralell Cable that came with ADPro or something else? Also, what version are you using? Thanks, Don Suhr 73117.1337@compuserve.com
Jim, I have the most recent version of the A4000/040 (The socketed version)… I have the numbers for the chip and my CPU card at work, but I remember comparing them before, and I wasn't one of the people in need of a motherboard/daughterboard/chip swap. Don Suhr 73117.1337@compuserve.com
DS >>Is this card (A4098) currently available for shipment? GVP >Not at this time. When is it slated for shipment? Release? Beta-Testing? Alpha-Testing? I would much rather stick with the product/company I originally chose to solve the SCSI problem in the A4000 (Especially like the Auto Mount/Dismount feature)… Besides the…
Chris, Let me get this straight. Your A4000/040's have all the Caches turned on, including CopyBack. Then you double-click on the ADPro Icon (v2.3 here) and after ADPro comes up, click on "Loaders". The list comes up, scrolls to EPSON SCAN (v3.0.2). Pick EPSON SCAN from the list. Click "Load"……
#ES-300C & A4000/040
Message #74213
Hello, A while ago, I purchased an Epson ES-300C and the Bundled ASDG Epson Software, and then later purchased ADPro as well… Then about a year ago I bought an A4000/040 and lost full compatibility with the scanner software. I understand that if I turn off all data caching I…
#A4008 -> A4098 Upgrade?
Message #74211
Hello, I purchased a A4008 board for my A4000/040, and am using it with a SQ3105 SyQuest 105m Removable Drive, Wangtek 5150 ES Tape Backup, and a SCSI-2 Fast 560m Micropolis drive. I saw your Advert in Amigaworld showing a product called the A4098… My questions are thus: Is this…
PPage Exit Bug "Fix"…
Message #131028
Hello, I am currently using an Amiga 4000/040 with PPage 4.1 & 14 meg of RAM… I have found that the "Exit" bug on my system, at least can be prevented… At least for a while. I have found that if I edit the file S:PPage.DFLT to remove the SCM…
Mike, I am using the GVP 4008 SCSI Controller to drive the SQ3105 SyQuest 105 meg Removable drive. I am also using an A4000 so that puts another spin on things… The drive is mounted internally but it would be easy to move it to the expansion box I have…

Hello, Does anyone have the new phone number for the Emplant BBS? Thanks! Don Suhr 73117,1337
Johanthan, Thanks for the reply… I sort of figured as much… I don't know why things would change that much within products, but I've seen it happen before… I think I have a net address for the creator of GPFax, so I will try to make contact and find out…

I have an A4000 (Correct chipset) and am trying to decide on a SCSI interface board for it… I don't specifically "Need" SCSI II support, what I need is a board $300 or thereabouts that will work with the A4000 & get the job done. I have heard a that…
