Donald, I've been dealing with the same thing lately… long paths with keys in sets of five. At times I've had success when manually reducing the curves to the first, third, and last key. It becomes quite tedious, especially as I'm often making refinements back in the Shaper or Lofter,…

Lee, Vistapro is made by VRLI, call (805) 545-8515. Vistapro DEM files can be exported as DXF files, and imported into 3DS. Paul S.

Todd, >> Is there any method for inserting a frame into an animation?
Dave, Here's my vanilla system files: CONFIG.SYS Buffers=20,0 Files=30 AUTOEXEC.BAT path=c:\dos;c:\windows c:\mouse2\mouse >> c:\ani> cfig386 ani.exe > FILL tool using TILE ink. bingo.
Hi Dave, (1.) Is there a known bug involving pasting cels and use of the zoom function? I believe I'm using Ani Pro 1.3. I'm taking a 2 x 240 cel, and pasting it into a 2 x 480 workspace. That works fine. But my 'puter keeps locking up when…
John, Can you see part of the object, or is the light not penetrating correctly? If it's the first, make sure you've copied the opacity map to the shininess slot, perhaps as a negative mask, depending… Paul S.

One thing to try is to unlink the source hierarchy in the KF, go back to the 3D Editor and reset x-form all of the objects, then go re-link the objects in the KF. Double check your pivot points. Does everything work OK? Then, do the same with your target…
Franz, Glad to help! Paul S.
Franz, 1.) Copy your opacity map to the shininess slot for the materials that fade in and out. What may be visible is the specular highlight of the material. The shininess map will regulate this highlight. 2.) Use the key dialog tracks to add hide/unhide keys for when the objects…

Greg, >> It simply means that you did something stupid when exiting 3DS >>salve mode My 3DS characters all have rough, dry skin. Is there anyway I can apply 3DS salve to all of them at once? Maybe an undocumented hotkey? Paul S.
To keep a project from searching unwanted default map paths while rendering, I had deleted several directories using the info/configure/map paths menu. Everything rendered quickly. Yet after saving the .prj, the map paths were there again??? This is adding one and a half minutes per frame to the renders. Now…

#190591 LEVEL 5 seeks work Message #190657
David, Yep, the freelancing is pretty thin up here (North Dakota, somewhat like the Aussie outback ). A few big companies, who stick with their in-house people or big city animation houses, and lots of small companies who are very interested until they find out it costs more than radio.…
Hi Rick, Question 1… You should be able to display 512×486 stills on your Targa+ and feed the signal straight to your deck. Likewise, you should be able to play flics out through the Targa+, either in 3DS or AniPro. You need to make sure you have the Targa+ drivers,…

Greetings, I am currently embarking upon two missions: 1.) To cultivate new clients via Compuserve. 2.) To seek full-time employment (should #1 be unfruitful ). Dave, Using Lightning from Schreiber's Imagine FX will do most of what you want. You should be able to fiddle around with the lightning parameters (thickness, # of bolts, etc.) and aim the .axp box to hit where you want. Conversely, you might be able to have multiple bolts strike…

Ithaca, NY 3DSers? Message #187165

#186766 Animator Pro Message #186818
Greig, I was having trouble with QEMM and Ani Pro myself. If you have run Optimize, you will probably have a line in your config.sys like this: DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QDPMI.SYS SWAPFILE=DPMI.SWP SWAPSIZE=1024 I was able to get Ani Pro to work by REMming out that statement, but then Windows would crash upon…
#186194 #Ani Pro in 3DS Message #186436
Dave, Thanks for the quick tutorial! I ended up in 3DS with a very nice shimmering or wavy effect, depending on the bump slider and shininess settings. Unfortunately, the Ani Pro flic overall went from light-ish to dark-ish back to light-ish. I had expected the "overall" luminance of the flic…

#186085 #Ani Pro in 3DS Message #186131
Dave, I think I've narrowed the problem down… It has to do with loading the Targa+ via RDPADI. If I set my rendering display to "VIBRANT: Targa+ (use TMODE.EXE Automode)" I am able to bring up Ani Pro inside 3DS no problem. This, of course, precludes my rendering to my…

Hi Dennis, It is frustrating, isn't it. In the future you can make good use of the tag function within most object selector boxes. If you begin your project with good naming organization, you can just enter the prefix you want. Maybe "y" and "z" would have been specific enough…

With a fairly bare bones config.sys I am able to run Ani Pro within 3DSr4 by exiting to DOS (F10). However, if I change my rendering driver from Vibrant to Targa+, I get a memory error: "Insufficient physical memory available" when trying to go to Ani Pro. I have played…
