Are you using a PC or Mac? On a Mac I know about 4th Dimension. And other databases allow more or less text/graphic data storage. On the PC side, not much in high end databases. A few things run under Windows, but I don't know much about them. Anyone else?

From my experience, we generally overprint the black layer…you will have registration problems if you cutout the letter's shape from the blue (or yellow) background, unless you trap your letter by stroking it.
