#182490 #Peter's Water FLC Message #182634
Anne, I'm busily writing a book about Animator Studio. I'd like to post some sort of note asking for cool flics and avi files to be included. Here's the message: ******* Artists! Call for animations. I am wasting away my sabbatical from Autodesk by writing a book on Animator Studio.…
Dennis, Call your local dealer. You can get Animator Studio for $295, and you get to keep your Animator Pro. –marK
#177735 AniStudio & #9GXE? Message #177777
happens on my notebook as well. 32K colors works fine, 64K won't run at all. Regarding which, 32K should be just fine if in fact the display is just display. The file itself is 32 bit, 24 color 8 greyscale alpha. –marK
#177626- #ADesk Mktg Strategy? Message #177651
Charles, Hopefully the reason you go to a dealer is for training and support, and that is the Value Added for the price difference. We wanted this product to be mass market, so we put it where the customers could find it. BTW, Upgrades from Ani Pro/AA are only available…
#177638 anti-alias in AS? Message #177647
100 Postscript Fonts tweaked to work with 1.3a. Earlier fonts won't work. If you want antialiased fonts that you can size, you should have the CD. –marK
#177481 anti-alias in AS? Message #177569
Dave, Call them again and demand CD. Make sure you have 1.3a, not 1.3 disks as well. –marK
#177353 Avi_in_dos Message #177567
Don't give up on Windows playback just yet. Try flc and wav with either AAS player/scriptor. Or 8 bit avi for the same. I still use flc and wav for 640 x 480, but I'm using the Windows player that comes with AAS. Seems to work for me. –marK
#177443 Capture card for AAS Message #177562
Dave, You'll probably end up with a PAR. I use ISVRPro, but it doesn't do more than 320×240 30 fps.
For Windows we use Ulead ImagePals. For DOS we used to use TIFFANY, or camera. Don't know if you can still get those. –Mark

#176981 AniStudio & #9GXE? Message #177293
Jon, Animator Pro taking a long time to start up, could be a Dos 6 thing. In the past I've used "cfig386 maxV -0" on Animator Pro, aniconvert and the player. After doing so, the long start up went away. –marK
Paul, Animator Studio should also do the same job as the above. It might seem like overkill however, to convert them into 24 bit and then back to 8 bit. –marK
Paul Try using Animator Pro's one palette command and then saving the flic again, It may go down in size significantly, and have the delta information added. Also if you want small flics you've got to check out SMACKER from RAD Software in Salt Lake City, Utah. They compress FLCS…
#176208 ANI-PRO SCRIPT HELP! Message #176225
Dear Visitor, First turn off your cap lock. HARD TO READ AND MEANS SHOUTING. Next Animator Pro doesn't let you go backwards through a presentation. If you need that capability, upgrade to the new Animator Studio and use the Scriptor to build your scripts for Windows. Put a marker wherever…
Aaron, Thanks for your feedback. We thought we'd try out something a little different with Animator Studio. We wanted to give you the documentation online, so that we could include animations and sound examples, and provide something that was at your fingertips. Have you used the online reference manual? It…
#175590 Problem splicing Message #175605
Thanks, Good to see the problems solved. Keep us informed.
Great info! When trying different compression settings on various CODECS, be sure and check the visual quality of the output afterwards. I can make very very small files with JPG, but the picture out the other end might not look so good.
#175403 #Problem splicing Message #175498
Dave, Paul You're keeping us all in suspense. How did your problem go away. It wasnt the Orchid Card or the other card, what was it?
#175037 AS and anti-alias Message #175347
No, in fact antialiasing is on all the tools, irregardless of inks. If you've got a dealer, go see a demo, you should be able to try it out. –marK
#174850- FLC to AVI bug? Message #174903
Glenn, Sounds like you might be out of swap space. Set your permanent Windows swap to 3x memory and try again. It's a known bug that when you run out of swap space you get that message. Also check that set temp = directory is set to someplace where there…
#174692 #AS and anti-alias Message #174899
Anti-aliasing in Animator Studio has several selectable levels, just like in 3D Studio. –marK
Jeffrey, Online, please. –mark
This is to formally announce that here at Autodesk we are hard at work to update the current shipping version of Animator Studio. The work we are doing will allow the current 16 bit application to install and run under Win 95 and Win NT. This upgrade will be available…
#174410 anti-alias in AS? Message #174411
Steven, Actually its alot more that just unzag ink. We reworked all the fonts so they would antialias nicely. So you get a new CD full of fonts. I need to find out the number you call. If you have a dealer you can call him, and say you want…
#174400 #anti-alias in AS? Message #174409
Steven, In Animator Pro 1.3a, when you select a PFB font, there is an UNZAG that appears. It only appears on PFB fonts. IT does a pretty good job of Antialiasing the text. Text is also scalable. Check it out. Good luck, mark
#174268 anti-alias in AS? Message #174290
Steven, Not sure what you mean by REAL anti-aliasing. Yes, Animator Studio anti-aliases text. It was a problem with Animator Pro for a long time, and it got fixed in version 1.3a, but we didn't tell anybody about it. Animator Studio is great for doing scrolling text, and flying text…
#174009 AAS install failures Message #174164
John, Take a look at where set temp= directory is pointing. Make sure you've got your temp file set to somewhere with plenty of space. –marK
Brian Taber writes: Tip for generating 8-bit uncompressed output; It am ugly but here it be: Use Animator to save out to .flc, or anything which uses the 256 color dialog (.avi MRLE). Use SoundLab to convert the .flc to .avi with FullFrame compression, deleting the audio stream SoundLab forced…
#174001 AniStudio playback Message #174162
Stephen, Sorry your having problems. I hope to turn this forum into something you can say good things about. Of course Ani Studio does not play faster under Windows than Ani Pro. Ani Pro is the fastest thing on the planet. Dos with Pharlap is an extremely mature place, while…
#171586 #FL*2AVI Message #173814
Try Animator Studio , very good for fli to avi and back.
Also is he using custom palette or not? –marK
#173754 Flipper errors GPFs Message #173787
Yep, same rule, In fact it depends more on how big is your animation. Tip: Don't do long sequences if you can avoid them. Try to work in 150 frames or less, rather than 500 or more. Also, after you save, quit and re-enter. Performance should improve. –marK
#173635 KPT Message #173784
David, You probably have to fake it. Paint the Stroke on a single frame. Save it. Use it as a Clone source, and then paint the stroke in time mode. –marK

#173607 Slow Paintbrush in AS Message #173782
Not fast. It was the brush tracking on 486/50's that made us decide to limit the minimum requirement to 486-66 –marK
Notebook Lovers, Here at Autodesk a couple of us have NEC Versa M with 32K/64K colors. Works great at 32K colors (need a fix for the 64K mode). Get a little table to go with it and you'll be hooked! It's great. Get the CD ROM and at least 16…
Doug, Ernie and everyone else, Here's the scoop. Animator Studio runs on Win 3.1. There are some users that have gotten it to run on Win NT 3.51, (not 3.5) by running animator.exe instead of flash.exe. We are working feverishly (is it hot in here?) to complete a version of…
Animator Studio Booklovers! Animator Studio has been the experimental product for Autodesk this year. We thought we'd try online docs, so we could include animations and sounds with the help system. We had to choose between doing a great help system online or paper docs, if we wanted to ship…
#Works FIne for Me! Message #173595
Tom, Thanks for your positive comments. There are a lot of people out there that love this program. It does so many great things its hard to know where to begin. I used to bill myself as the first person to totally give his life over to 3D Studio. I…
#KPT Message #173594
KPT lovers, When in time mode and using the Gradient designer as a filter you can get it to appear on each frame by holding down the shift key before you start. (Shift or Ctrl key one or the other). This lets the Gradient designer dialogue appear before each and…
AAS won't use ramdisk Message #173592
Clif, Hi, I'm the product manager for Animator Studio, I remember you had some major complaints over the past month. Can you send them to me, so we can be sure we address them. We're working on a version of AS that runs on Win 95 and Win NT, which…
Garry, One thing we've discovered is that Animator Studio builds a workfile that is not released until you quit the program. If you render something extensive, after you save it, try quitting the program and then re-entering it. Performance should pick up and you'll be much less likely to run…
#170697 Anim Studio Questions Message #173590
Randy, I'd like to clear up some confusion regarding playback under Animator Studio. For better or worse, we designed the program to work with our own lossless 24 bit AVI Codec. The problem with working with AVI was that it was lossy, so we extended the functionality of AVI by…
#170583 #Win95 Final Beta Message #173589
Oral, Hi, I'm the product manager for Animator Studio and it's my first week up on CompuServe. I'm running through all the old messages and trying to respond to everybody. (good luck to me!) I've been told the Animator Studio will run on NT 3.51, if you change the properties…
#Animation Studio Message #173586
Ernie, In answer to your comment about mass market. I think you're going to see a lot of programs coming down the pike that require more memory and more disk space. The days of 4 Megs on a system are over! Even Win 95 needs 8 megs if you want…
Mei-Tien, What kind of 486 do you have. I have seen this on machines that are less than the minimum 66 Megahertz machines, which is why we don't recommend using this on 486 50 or 33. This includes chip doubled machines that aren't true 66 or higher. Recommendations – Use…

#173262 AAplayer on OS2 Message #173298
Peter, I use cfig386 on the aniplay.exe all the time. I usually set Max -v = 0 so that the player loads faster on Dos 6 machines. I assume you can do the same on aniplay high.
Joe, Hi, I'm Mark Gerhard, the product manager for Animator Studio. I'm new to CompuServe (today is my second day up on the net). Please send me some mail here and I will respond to all your questions personally. We want you to be a happy Autodesk customer and will…
