Thanks Nik, and please let me know. I can't see using MeshPaint without a tablet. But I *can't* see running 3DS without a mouse . BILL

Sorry to bug you, but I was told that I could configure both mouse & Wacom tablet, and switch back and forth within 3DS. I tried this last week, and I could switch from mouse to tablet *once*, …after that, the s/w reports "can't find that driver" when trying to…

PMJI, but I agree that SI has a lot of power, especially specific to animation. But, didn't you find as I did, it's probably the buggiest pieces of s/w ever written ? Just curious, I haven't used it in quite sometime (years).

Hi John, RE:Simms>> Other than adding a second EIDE , this system works well with all the garbage I've got stuffed in it. I believe the SIMMS are supposed to be X36's, too…but these are X32's. Who knows ? Thanks for the info.. Regards, BILL

Hi John,
#Help with Errors Message #163379
Well, here's a real strange one for you. As you probably know, I've used Rel 3, 4 & 4c1 successfully under a variety of configurations. With rel.4, I had a couple of problems for the first time, with some display trashing and the program thinking the dongle was missing every…
> Can you explain this more specifically ? Just do the following: 1) You can have a Material assigned to the morph objects, but if Skin.axp is applied to any of them, turn it OFF from the dialog. 2) Create a tiny cube out of the way, and assign Skin…

> If LW was truly equivalent to 3DS4 or even 3DS5, it would still be quite a feat to equal market share with 3DS. And, it would take years on this platform to do it. It took 3DS years to capture this market with a clearly superior product. I don't…

Hey, thanks John ! BILL
Mike, I was having a number of strange problems with R4, including some of the garbage left behind after opening/closing dialogs, etc.. With the 4c update and the latest Vibrant drivers, all of the problems seemed to go away. BILL
Bob, I've created the same effect before using a combination of Vapor, Magic, and Lenz F/X. Unfortunately, there isn't a gravity force available in Vapor. But, you can composite several dissolving layers, with the flow direction orientation varying. With Magic, you can set a wide range of particle sizes, and…

Hi Steven, Thanks for the info.. Just to clarify, is the normal (non-student) price $495, or TWICE that ? Brent M. stated that: > Can you confirm/deny this ? Does the s/w require a (#*@$&*@#) dongle ? Why do you suppose there hasn't been that much talk about the program…

Hi David, I've got the standard & pressure stylus, but was only going to try the standard, since MP doesn't respond to the pressure data. I also *have* to keep the mouse configured, as I quit using the tablet for modeling/animation a long time ago…..don't have a puck. Gary said…

#161471 Animation Master Message #161516
MeshPaint was included in the list. Many of the older IPAS become obsolete or redundant, with the release of some of the newer stuff (such as YG#1 and Lenz F/X). I'm just saying that this selection is very complete for most all typical jobs.
I would be surprised if the fastest uProc. wasn't supported. BILL
What Gary Y. says is absolutely correct. I used SGI h/w & s/w for several years, and apples-to-apples….the quality of the render and relative speed of 3DS is equal on a P90/100, if not faster/better. Now, just wait a short time for the NT version running on multiple Alpha AXP…

#160604 MeshPaint 3D Demo Message #160679
From: M. G. BATCHELOR Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage March 24, 1995 12:01 PM
Hi Brent, I got another chance to use MeshPaint again, and discovered some other features, etc.. I was able to reduce the "stray painting", but not eliminate it. Clearly, for complex objects, constructing them with lofted coord's is the ideal method when using MeshPaint. But, the paint still shoots off.…

David, PMJI, but I believe you are missing the point of "by Prefix". In order to work, the objects or slices must be named with the same prefix, that is: Obj01, Obj02, Obj03 must be identical wrt vertex count, and only contain 2 sets of "boundary" vertices (the circle of…
